In partnership with the Evangelical Covenant Church and Lawndale Community Church, Pastor Phil established The House Covenant Church, the first all teen and young adult hip hop church in Chicago’s Lawndale Community. The first official service was on Saturday, October 4, 2003, where over 700 people came to The House! Every service since has drawn 300-500 young people. Services are every first and second Saturday but plans to host it every Saturday are tentatively planned beginning Fall 2008. In partnership with Lawndale Community Church (LCC), and The House Covenant Church (The House), the former Chicago fire station will serve as an important venue for providing hands-on cultural programming and training. Following renovation, this facility will have the capacity to serve 80-100 youth daily. Through FCAC, youth and young adults will be offer daily arts training and mentoring in a creative and nurturing environment. They will have opportunities to engage in workshops involving music, music production, dance, graphic arts, computer technology, culinary art, photography, fine arts and entrepreneurship. The FCAC desires to engage youth and young adults living in North and South Lawndale through the arts empowering them to reach their full potential AND to equip youth with a marketable skill in order to build confidence and success in all areas of life. Shout Outs: (what others have said about Phil and the ministry God has given him) “Phil is a wild man on a 180 mission from God. His passion is to help urban students and leaders to serve and follow God in a more “Souled Out” manner. His heart, anger, and humor will launch you to the next level!” Larry Acosta, President and Founder of Hispanic Ministry Center (Southern California) “Over the years I have watched Phil Jackson work with city kids, train urban youth workers, preach the Gospel and glorify the name of Jesus Christ like nobody else on this PLANET! He is highly intelligent, talented, funny enthusiastic and without reservation.” Bart Campolo, President, Mission Year “Phil is a man of God, husband, father and friend to so many. He is uniquely gifted in being able to share with very diverse groups be it race, gender, education or economical background. If there is a person that has the knowledge and the experience of how to bridge the gap between the young and the old in to the twenty- first centuries it is Rev. Phil Jackson. Carey Casey, Sr. Vice President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes “Phil is one of the most superbly gifted youth ministers I have ever met. He combines a keen appreciation for Christian ministry with an incredible knowledge of youth culture. Phil is able to reach youth because he understands where they live and how they think, but most important, how they navigate the perilous terrain of urban life. I know of no one who is more qualified to reach, teach and preach to youth and the often-bewildered parents who don’t have a clue about their children’s worlds. Phil is the bomb: he’s as explosive as a hand-grenade and he packs a powerful punch for the cause of Christ.” Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, Author of Between God and Gangsta rap and University Professor University Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA Phil Jackson is our dynamic youth pastor at Lawndale Community Church. He is extremely creative, innovative and is able to reach the hip-hop generation in a powerful way. He has a gift at equipping others to receive vision, motivation and skills to do youth ministry to urban America. Wayne “Coach” Gordon, Founder and Pastor of Lawndale Community Church, President of CCDA
