Native Youth Come Together in Canada, in 3 Summer Outreach Teams

Native Christians have been sharing the Creator's Message cross-culturally! CNY provides training and mobilizes Native young people in ministry.

As God allows, every couple of years we head north, through the plains, mountains, and even to the sub-arctic, and have been building relationships with many First Nations people, and telling about what God has done in our lives!

If you'd like to join us on a future trip or maybe host the team in for a visit in your area - just call or write Mike Hendricks at 505-453-7959  or by e-mail at
hendricks@naim.ca

There is certainly much more water up North than in the Southwest! This team flew an hour northwest of Yellowknife to share about Jesus and visit friends from the Dogrib tribe. There are very few Christians there.

In Hay River NT, we were able to have some fun with local kids! The local Churches have a real burden for them too. We were involved in Youth Rally activities, giving testimonies, and some Church services.

Every trip we go "north" we fly out to Rae Lakes to encourage First Nations Believers. Travelling in by small aircraft is expensive, but it is the only way in to the island Native community of about 200.

Many different tribes were represented, and though we are all individuals, everyone saw how we can be unified in Christ. "Podge" (L)is Canadian Saulteaux, and John(R)is Montana Crow.

After many days of driving straight north, Team 2 crossed the 60th Parallel, the Northwest Territories Border! We were in 24 hour daylight for the next 2 weeks of the trip in Hay River, Yellowknife, and Rae Lakes.

Albert & Marie Tso led Team 1 up through the Canadian Rockies of British Columbia. They worked at Lilooet Youth Camp for about a week, , shared about Christ through sports in several other BC communities, then went on to help at the Tillicum Centre of downtown Vancouver.

Here are some Wood Buffalo we saw right on the Mackenzie Highway. They have a home inside a NWT Provincial Park near Great Slave Lake.

Team 3 set out for the great plains of Saskatchewan, where they learned about First Nations' history and helped in evangelism with children and youth. NAIM missionaries helped with leadership, and thankfully, the Missionary staff are there all year long to encourage and nurture Christian growth.
