EUMC History
Our History ... Ebenezer is the oldest church in Rockdale County. It has its beginings in camp meetings, the first of which was documented in 1818. Ten years later, 1828, a log meeting house was built and a church organized. The church went through serveral tranformations and in 1982 became a full time church, growing from 121 member to 430 members. The present sanctuary was completed in 1990, built on three acres, and fronting Stanton Road. In the year 2000, two new buildings were dedicated: a 14,000 square foot educational building, which added 20 classrooms and a choir room, and an 8,000 square foot activities center, providing a gymnasium and a commercial kitchen. Three worship services are held each Sunday morning to accomodate our 1,700 members. As Ebenezer journeys through the new Millennium, the church changes in numbers, names, programs, and ministries. What stays constant is the spirit that truly defines Ebenezer UMC: Caring People Sharing God's Love.
